Two new pedestrian/cycleways under construction - and a barrier moved to allow passage over the bank holiday weekend rather than having to cross the main road twice.
Temporary lights - totally unnecessary, except I think that they allow a pedestrian phase around the roadworks. By the time the light changed there were 15 to 20 bikes (and 1 trike) waiting.
[Image taken 21.05.23] Malton Road / New Lane, Huntington / York. [NOTE: No street view at this exact location] Context: #193945. As I was looking for the signage to see where/until which point/from which point people can cycle on this … [more]

[Image taken 21.05.23] Malton Road, Huntington / York. Note the new sign. It says there is access to New Lane. That’s good. It’s true. This means pedestrians can continue to the path along this side of New Lane (and from there to the … [more]

[Image taken 17.5.23] Tadcaster Road, York. The road works-related signage means this Sheffield (outside a parade of shops and a takeaway) cannot be used. Is this a problem of lack of care? Lack of understanding? Lack of training? Someone … [more]
[Image taken 17.5.23] Tadcaster Road (looking north east), York. I’m marking the sign - Cyclists use road - as good practice (though I shouldn’t need to) because it’s still all too common that people on cycles are told to dismount (see: … [more]
[Image taken 17.5.23] Tadcaster Road (looking south west), York. The sign - Narrow lanes do not overtake cyclists - is good practice. There was another for the north east-bound carriageway too. Second example of good practice these works … [more]
Construction of a wider cycleway/greenway - at the moment all cyclists and pedestrians have to cross the main road twice to get past.
Alternating traffic flows through roadworks - very long phases, and no real provision for pedestrians and cyclists crossing the road - just wait till the cars stop and rush across. But it looks as if there'll be a better cycleway when it's … [more]
[Image taken 14.5.23] New Lane direction of Malton Road, Huntington / York. The information sign does not provide a phone number to report problems on. Such as fallen barriers: #193945. Or complaints: that the shared use path is … [more]

End of Cycleway - you don't say. But this area in front of Białystok station has been massively remodelled and improved, so it's all good.
This is Czech cycle route 4 (to the right past the cement truck) - but a span of the railway bridge is being rebuilt, so there may be a problem.
This is going to be great - every motor vehicle will encroach on the contraflow cycle lane. It may be better to use the next road north (also contraflow).
It's all happening here - after these City Fibre works, Cambridge Water is going to close Grantchester St (and Bateman St too) for a couple of days.
Following the attempt to use temporary lights (#189852 and #189853) they've given up - not ideal for the walk to school.
Local traffic chaos due to parked cars blocking cars trying to pass queuing cars. Also no lights on Chedworth St, one light for both Grantchester St and Eltisley Avenue.

It looks as if the absolutely appalling stretch of broken road surface at the Station Road junction is getting some overnight attention.
Water utility works at the north end of Grange Road - naturally cyclists can get past (although the puddles don't help).
Water utility works at the north end of Grange Road - urgent enough to close the road, not urgent enough to work on a Sunday. A shame the barriers were left blocking the cycle lanes, but of course cyclists were passing on the footways.
Future cycleway towards Berwick station (NCN route 2 - on the opposite side of the road to the northern section)
Still no path connection from the Bredisholm Road M73 bridge to Calderbank Road, and no evidence one is going to be provided. A detour via the unsealed path next to the railway line is thus necessary.
[Image taken 26.6.22] Manor Lane, junction with Manor Park Road, York. A fallen temporary works sign is a hazard - barely visible, And the cone couldn't be seen until you got this close. (I moved both off the road/avoiding the pavement.) … [more]
I don't think the replacement Sighthill Bridge will be opening in "the early months of 2022". https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=27331
Avenue being resurfaced for the Tour de France with minor improvements - what a shame they didn't take the opportunity to put in a good cycle track too. But Rodez doesn't even have much cycle parking.

The west end of the Strand was closed to through motor traffic in August 2021. It's STILL a building site in March 2022, with no through access for bikes at the west end.

Southbound cyclists are told to dismount for the roadworks here. Northbound the cycle lane is supposedly closed, but most vehicles are easily keeping out of it.
[Image taken 8.3.22] Bootham, York. No provision for people on cycles during the works. The non-compliant advisory cycle lane is reduced in width by the cone and the works sign. Other image here today: #179817 and links.

Complicated map explaining how to get to the docks avoiding the roadworks. We followed the advised route and it worked.
Southern end of construction of the shared-use route by the A1198 south from Papworth Everard (at the end of January 2022) - it seems it may end here at this hotel until the A428 dialling is complete past Caxton Gibbet.
Mill Road, Cambridge this morning. A quartet of signs on an already narrow and often busy footway. Just enough space for the wheelchair user to pass, but luckily a workman was nearby at the fifth. More signs beyond. Three weeks of this to … [more]
Temporary end of shared-use path at roadworks - cyclists are directed down a decent enough ramp to the road.
Finally the collapsing bridge is being fixed - what a performance. Cyclists are supposed to wait for an escort, but I doubt if many are bothering [and the sign about the escort was soon removed].
Road works by Cambridge Water at the Station Road/Hills Road junction - luckily many people are working from home. It would be nice to think that the dreadful potholes will be properly fixed, but I'm not optimistic.
The west end of the Strand was closed to through motor traffic in August. It's still a building site.
